About

Welcome to Bread of Life Church in Mapalo…

We want to bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to the captives, sight to the blind, and freedom to the Oppressed . Through our ministries, we empower children, people living with HIV/AIDS, the disabled, widows, orphans, youth and the needy in our community Mapalo is a high density area with the population of 60 000 people (largest in Ndola). Majority of Mapalo residents live on less than a dollar a day because of shut down industries and privatisation.

Our church

Pastor Peter with the MPWe meet in the church hall, while the children (Sunday school) meet in one of the rooms in our community school. This is to teach the children separately in their own context.

Sunday Service

We start our service with intercession to pray for spiritual growth for members in church and issues affecting our people in the community. During the service we enjoy the fellowship and gather as a community in prayer. An example of activities in our services are: praise and worship, Pentecostal prayers, testimonies from the congregation, a sermon, and sometimes afterwards an alter call for the sick and to cast out demons.

Our Community School

We run a community school, where orphans and vulnerable children have the opportunity to attain primary education. There is only one government school in our community which can’t accommodate all the children in Mapalo. Our community school has three classrooms and has 550 orphans & vulnerable – we hope to build toilets for our community school so that orphans and vulnerable can be catered with hygiene while being in the learning environment.

Church ministries

HBC women’s groupSpiritually our church focuses on bringing thousands in the Kingdom through seeking the kingdom first, impacting survival skills, and spiritual guidance. Spiritually, we want to do what is right, to love mercy, and walk humbly with God. We also have a strong Womens ministry, Youth ministry and Home Based Care ministry for the long-term sick in our community.

Partnerships

We work closely with other local churches, sometimes holding joint events. Our pastor is also involved in the pastor’s fellowship who are pastors in churches working together to bring transformation to our community. Mapalo has one ward, with a Resident Development Committee (R.D.C). Our pastor is involved and is invited to discuss issues affecting our community. This gives him opportunities to advocate for further development of the community.

The Future

HBC visitingOur church has great vision for the future. Seeing the amazing challenges facing our community, we want our ministries to impart skills to the vulnerable. We would like to expand programs in teaching carpentry, tailoring and agriculture skills. We want to grow (expand) nutritional programmes, have a bole hole, build modern toilets for our community school, and evangelism. For now, we are moving at a sustainable pace – With the amazing grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we have hope of achieving these goals.
